BRAVES-PHILLIES

Revere's RBI single ifts Phillies over Braves 1-0

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Ben Revere's RBI single with two outs in the eighth inning lifted the Philadelphia Phillies to a 1-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Thursday afternoon.

A.J. Burnett tossed three-hit ball over seven innings to outpitch Alex Wood (2-2). Atlanta's Julio Teheran beat Cliff Lee 1-0 less than 24 hours earlier.

Dominic Brown led off the bottom of the eighth with a single. He advanced to second on a sacrifice and scored on Revere's hit up the middle.

Antonio Bastardo (2-1) worked the eighth and Jonathan Papelbon finished off the four-hitter with a perfect ninth for his fourth save in five tries.

Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg successfully challenged a call in the fifth inning when Andrelton Simmons was ruled out trying to steal second base.

PLAYOFFS-LONG SHOT HAWKS

No bigger playoff long shot than under-.500 Hawks

ATLANTA (AP) - There's no bigger long shot in the NBA playoffs than the Atlanta Hawks.

Only the 15th team in the last two decades to make the postseason with a losing record, the Hawks (38-44) get started Saturday against the top seed in the East, the Indiana Pacers.

Good luck with that.

Then again, considering all the Hawks have been through, just making the playoffs for the seventh year in a row was quite a feat. The team has almost totally revamped its roster, broke in a rookie head coach, and lost top player Al Horford for most of the season.

Atlanta went into a terrible slump at the beginning of February, losing 20 of 26. But by winning seven of their last 10, the Hawks slipped into playoffs with that under-.500 mark.

CHAMPIONS TOUR-MASTERS AFTERGLOW

Miguel Angel Jimenez set for Champions Tour debut

DULUTH, Ga. (AP) - Miguel Angel Jimenez, Bernhard Langer and Fred Couples are looking to build off the best Masters ever for players 50 and over.

Jimenez finished fourth in the Masters and Langer tied for eighth Sunday. STATS LLC confirmed it marked the first time two players 50 or over finished in the top eight of the Masters.

The 50-year-old Jimenez had the best Masters finish for a player 50 or over since Sam Snead, also 50, was third in 1963. Couples, in contention early in the final round, tied for 20th.

Langer is the defending champion in the Champions Tour's Greater Gwinnett Championship, which begins Friday at TPC Sugarloaf near Atlanta.

Jimenez will be making his Champions Tour debut, and Langer on Thursday predicted the Spaniard will "leave his mark."

TURNER FIELD-DEVELOPMENT

Developers interested in baseball stadium property

ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed says developers have already made offers for a baseball stadium that will be vacant once the Atlanta Braves move to the suburbs.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Thursday that Reed told local outlets the city has gotten multiple offers for the 77-acre property Turner Field sits on in southwest Atlanta. Reed says he's had discussions with Georgia State University over the property, but didn't give details on other potential developers.

Reed says regardless of how Turner Field is redeveloped, the city will preserve Hank Aaron's home run monument and the main roadblock in redevelopment plans is the baseball team finalizing its exit decision.

The Atlanta Braves have announced plans to move into a new stadium in Cobb County in time for the team's 2017 season.
