COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina lawmakers have reached a compromise that could fund $800 million in road and bridge work. The Legislature came back to Columbia this week to finish their work on the state budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1. They hope to approve the budget compromise Wednesday.

MCCORMICK, S.C. (AP) - Construction on the U.S. 378 bridge linking McCormick with Lincolnton, Ga., has been put on hold. Officials are studying cracks along the foundation of the structure at the bottom of Lake Thurmond. Georgia Department of Transportation spokesman David says he hopes the study will be finished in July.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Google is giving South Carolina teachers, entrepreneurs, and employees of nonprofits a chance to learn how to use the Internet company's tools at the Trident Technical College campus in North Charleston. Today's free Googlefest event will include teaching about online Google programs such as Google Plus, Google Apps and Google Drive.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The budget approved by the South Carolina Ports Authority board projects an almost 6% increase in container volume. The budget includes spending $123 million on capital projects. About $29 million of that will go toward the authority's new terminal in Greer.
