Officers seize poker machines and thousands of pills at Sumter store

SUMTER, SC (WIS) - A two month investigation by the Sumter County Drug Unit led to the arrest of a Bishopville man after officers found and seized two illegal poker machines, almost 5,000 prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, and more than $16,000 in cash at a local store.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office said the unit executed a search warrant at Monzingo's Grocery on North Main Street on Thursday.

Ravindrabhai Patel was arrested and charged with three counts of illegal possession of prescription drugs, two counts of operating a gaming house, two counts of transfer of beer to a person under 21, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Patel is being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
