COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin on Tuesday announced his support of the 2011 World Beer Festival, which will be held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center on January 22, 2011.
"I welcome the World Beer Festival back to Columbia and wish them much success at the 2011 Festival," said Benjamin. "The festival brings an estimated $1.5 million in revenue to the city and partners with local non-profits the River Alliance and Columbia Opportunity Resource, who receive a portion of the proceeds from the event."
Over 100 breweries will be present, featuring a variety of beer styles to sample, including IPAs, pales ales, witbiers, kölsch, pilsners, ciders, stouts and many more.
"When we selected Columbia three years ago as our new World Beer Festival city, we based the decision on the fact that Columbia has all the ingredients of a growing beer culture that is about to take off," said organizer Daniel Bradford. "We're excited to host the third World Beer Festival there in January and look forward to celebrating the city's combination of curious beer drinkers, expanding beer selections and creative brewers and distributors."
Tickets for the festival are now on sale. The festival offers two four-hour sessions, from 12:00-4:00pm and 6:00-10:00pm. Tickets for a single session is $40, and can be purchased online at www.allaboutbeer.com.
