(Greensboro-AP) June 20, 2003 - President Bush is coming to the middle Georgia town of Greensboro for a private $2000-a-ticket fundraiser at a glitzy golf resort on Lake Oconee.
Once among Georgia's poorest areas, Greensboro is becoming a hotspot for Republican fund-raisers. The resort about 70 miles east of Atlanta has become an epicenter for state GOP networking.
The president is visiting the Ritz-Carlton Lodge on his first cross-country swing for his 2004 re-election campaign.
The georgia republican party isn't releasing details about the event.. And officials won't say how many people are expected to show up.
The resort is owned by Mercer Reynolds, Bush's campaign finance chairman. The president visited Reynolds Plantation in his first campaign for president and has been fishing on Lake Oconee at least once.
Governor Perdue, Georgia's first Republican governor since Reconstruction, was in Greesboro in April to meet with other Southern Republican governors.
