COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The University of South Carolina Gamecocks didn't play this weekend, but the team moved up slightly in the polls. It may be slight comfort, however, as USC's match with the defending national champions looms ahead next weekend.

The Gamecocks jumped one spot in the Associated Press poll to No. 19 and two spots in the USA Today Coaches Poll to No. 20. USC will have a chance to make a major move up in the polls this week with a win over top-ranked Alabama, which has won 19 straight games dating back to last season.

On Sunday, ESPN announced that the game will be their featured College GameDay matchup of the week. Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Erin Andrews will be at Williams-Brice Stadium for the game.

This is the fifth time College GameDay has come to Columbia, but the popular live show hasn't featured a USC game since Carolina hosted Tennessee in 2006. Coverage will begin at 9:00am Saturday on ESPNU, with the final two hours being shown on ESPN.

In addition, CBS announced Saturday night that they would be televising the game at 3:30pm. That brings up the specter of the "CBS curse," a topic sometimes discussed on Gamecock-related Internet forums due to the fact that South Carolina has never won a 3:30pm game on CBS.
