ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) – Orangeburg deputies are questioning a person of interest after a 27-year-old man outside a nightclub early Thursday morning.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Larry Williams said some kind of altercation started around 3:00am Thursday near Club 601 at the intersection of Highway 601 and Hillcrest Road. According to Williams, there was an exchange of gunfire and one person died.

The Orangeburg County Coroner identified the victim as Antonio Jamison of Cordova. Investigators say they found Jamison in the driver's seat of a car at the scene. Jamison died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner.

Investigators spent several hours piecing the scene together on Thursday, measuring and photographing bullet holes, and hunting for the bullets. The investigation had US Highway 601 from Hillcrest Road to St. Matthews Road closed until around 8:30am.

Deputies interviewed several witnesses at the scene, and detained one witness and read him his rights before letting him go late Thursday afternoon, according to the department's spokeswoman. Deputies are still questioning a person of interest, but have not charged anyone.
