LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - No runoff will be needed to pick the GOP nominee for SC House District 69.

Rick Quinn has been declared the winner by the State Election Commission after the commission received withdrawal letters from the other four Republican candidates, Danny Frazier, T.R. Parrish, Daniel Peagler and Gary Taylor.

Quinn received 49 percent of the vote in Tuesday's primary election.  Danny Frazier was his closest competitor receiving 19 percent.

Last night, Lexington County Republican Party Chairman Rich Bolen read a letter from Frazier asking the others to drop out of the race. If Frazier would have dropped out on his own, the next place finisher would have moved up to the run off position with Quinn.

In that same letter, Frazier asked for Republican candidate for Governor, Gresham Barrett to drop out of the gubernatorial campaign.  Barrett has already said he will stay in the race.

Frazier and Quinn were set to meet in the June 22nd runoff election.  Quinn will now concentrate on the November general election where he'll face Democrat Jan Crangle.

House District 69 covers part of Lexington County.

Quinn previously represented SC House District 71 in Richland County from 1989-2005.
