Four accidents slow traffic on I-26

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Accidents across Columbia Wednesday morning slowed traffic to a crawl on Interstate 26 and nearly stopped rush hour drivers as emergency crews worked to clear the scenes.

Four accidents in the eastbound lanes of I-26 slowed drivers to a standstill. Three of the four accidents were non-injury, while the fourth is unknown at this time.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the first accident occurred at 6:32 a.m. on I-26 at Bush River Road. No one was injured in the crash, but eastbound traffic stalled as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

Eight minutes later, a crash occurred on I-26 at the 108 mile marker. No injuries were reported.

Crews began working a third non-injury accident at 7:21 a.m. near the intersection of I-26 and I-126.

Emergency crews are also working a crash at Fernandia Road and I-26. No details are available at this time and it is unknown if anyone was injured.
