Suspect wearing surgical cap and duct tape robs Gervais St. bank

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Columbia police are investigating a bank robbery at the RBC Bank on Gervais Street in Columbia. 

The robbery occurred around 10:50 Friday morning.

The suspect, who police say was wearing surgical cap and duct tape on his face, slipped the teller a note asking for money and saying he had a weapon.

The teller said they never saw the weapon, but the suspect did get away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police say the suspect took off on a dark colored mountain bike, headed west down Gervais St.

The suspect is described as a 35-45 year old male approximately six feet tall with a thin build.  He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark colored fleece style vest over a white sweatshirt, dark colored gloves and white tennis shoes. 

No injuries were reported.
