WASHINGTON (AP) - President Obama has nominated Willie Lee Richardson, Jr., to be United States Marshal for the Middle District of Georgia.
Richardson currently holds the rank of supervisory criminal investigator in the United States Marshals Service. Obama made the nomination on Monday, saying Richardson has distinguished himself throughout a long career in public safety.
Richardson was employed with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office in Valdosta, Ga., as a deputy/investigator from 1986 to 1989. He received an associate's degree in applied science from the Community College of the Air Force in 1984, and served in the United States Air Force from 1981 to 1985.
