11-year-old charged with aggravated assault, larceny and more

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - An 11-year-old boy faces a string of felony charges in connection with several incidents around the Spring Valley area, Richland County deputies said Wednesday.

Sheriff Leon Lott said the child faces charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, malicious injury to personal property and petit larceny stemming from three separate incidents.

Lott said the child shot out light bulbs at the Spring Valley Apartments on Sparkleberry Lane on more than one occasion, and used a pellet gun to shoot a 15-year-old girl playing soccer behind Spring Valley Presbyterian Church on Sparkleberry Lane on November 5.

Lott added the child also stole a donation jar from the Junior League Fundraiser held at the Kroger on Sparkleberry Lane on November 18.

Deputies arrested the child as he ran away from stealing the donation jar, and a family court judge confined him to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
