LUGOFF, SC (WIS) - Fire broke out in a Lugoff-Elgin High School storage shed, causing thousands of dollars in damage to sports equipment, district officials said Tuesday.
Kershaw County School District spokesperson Mary Anne Byrd said the fire happened in a storage shed used to store softball equipment. She didn't say when the fire happened.
Byrd said the fire caused $15,000 in damage, but the school has insurance for what was lost.
Byrd did not say how the fire started or whether it was intentionally set. However, she did say separate disciplinary hearings will be held by the district.
A WIS News 10 crew is investigating the fire. We'll have more on this story later tonight on WIStv.com.
