FORT STEWART, Ga. (AP) - A group of citizen-soldiers in the Georgia National Guard are back home after serving a yearlong deployment in Iraq.
About 170 troops from the 178th Military Police Company were reunited with their families Tuesday night at Fort Stewart. The unit is based in Monroe, about 25 miles southwest of Athens.
The Army National Guard soldiers had spent the past week at Fort Dix, N.J., getting paperwork processed before boarding a plane home to Georgia.
