RIDGEWAY, SC (WIS) - A Fairfield County deputy has been dismissed after a Nov. 2 incident at her home in Ridgeway according to Sheriff Herman Young.

An incident report says 33-year-old Goya Price tried to grab her husband, 36-year-old Curtis Price, around the neck and hit him in the jaw.

Goya admits she got hostile when she thought her husband was cheating.

"I know, I know it was a bad choice, bad decision," said Goya.

Price admits she dumped pink paint on her husband's military uniform and smashed out his windows, using a sculpture he brought her back from Iraq. The incident report says her husband called 911, saying Goya also tried to grab him around the neck and strike him in the jaw.

The report says Goya's fellow deputies handcuffed her and her husband.

The husband asked to press charges, then changed his mind. Officers did not separate the couple, and no one was arrested.

"I am human," said Goya. "I made a mistake."

The next day, Sheriff Young fired her.

"For what took place and her actions, I do not see where that person should remain at the sheriff's office," said Young.

"He said well, you're not going to be charged with anything, and we're just gonna have to let you go,” said Goya.

If Goya did not work for the sheriff's department, would deputies have charged her?  Sheriff Young says no.

"I did not give her any preferential treatment because of her being a deputy,” said Young. “We do not do that."

When asked why her actions were strong enough to dismiss her and not arrest her, Sheriff Young reiterated that there was no special treatment.

"They made a decision not to make an arrest and that's what I have to go on,” said Young.

Goya says she's bummed that she lost her job over this.  As for her relationship, she says they’re working it out and promises nothing like this will ever happen again.
