Spurrier pointed out Tuesday that the Gamecocks are 6-3, which for this year's team full of young players is pretty good.
USC is trying to recover from a tough loss at Tennessee, and their next challenge is another road game against Arkansas.
The Gamecocks are bowl eligible with six wins, but one or two more victories would guarantee they'll be traveling for the holidays. They've been in this position before, but lost five in a row to end 2007 and four of their last six in 2008.
Of course there's pressure to win, but it's not coming from the head ball coach.
"Steve, a lot of fans are like, 'here we go again' with this end of season stretch," a reporter began to say on Tuesday, but it's a question the head ball coach doesn't like being asked.
"'Here we go again' with six wins and three losses right now, so we're not as bad off as some of you guys want to make us feel," responded Spurrier.
Coach Spurrier says he's not putting a lot of pressure on the guys to get that seventh win, because in all likelihood, they're going to be underdogs for the rest of the season.
"Our team is a bunch of freshman and youngsters with a few seniors here and there, to me the best thing to do is play pressure free," he said. "There's no pressure on us.
"That means the experts don't think we're as good as the teams we're playing, and whether their right or not we have to go find out," continued Spurrier.
Tori Gurley says the coaches tell the players to stay focused on the immediate task ahead, winning the next game.
"Some people like to worry about the past, but we can only focus on the present, and that's Arkansas, so can continue to work hard and prepare for them," said Gurley.
With that young stable of players, Spurrier says Carolina's best days are still to come.
"We still have a lot of coaching to do with these players, and we believe our big big seasons are still down the road a ways," said Spurrier.
After playing at Arkansas on Saturday, South Carolina hosts No. 1 Florida and Clemson to finish the season.
