COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) described Thursday as "the darkest day in Congress" after Democratic leaders released the House health care reform bill in Washington.
"There was the announcement of the Pelosi takeover bill, it truly is an effort to take over the lives of the American people, but it's a bill of greater taxation, greater control."
Wilson came to the Midlands Friday to discuss the bill as it moves through Congress.
The bill he calls the 'Pelosi takeover bill' is actually H.R. 3962. The 1,990 page bill costs $894 billion, and includes a moderate public option, giving 39 million uninsured americans access to health care.
"The bill is fiscally sound," said Speaker Pelosi. "It will not add one dime to the deficit as it expands coverage, implements key insurance reforms, and promotes prevention and wellness across the health system."
