ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) - A man accused of carrying homemade bombs and rifles in his car will be in jail for a while.
Bond was denied for Mark Carron in Orangeburg.
Orangeburg County investigators charged Carron following the traffic stop Tuesday on Edisto Drive.
Investigators say Carron was driving left-of-center, then failed to stop for a blue light. After the stop and a search of his van, Carron's legal troubles got a whole lot deeper with the discovery of the weapons.
Carron himself said he's been in trouble before. He admitted to a 1980 arrest for armed robbery and a 2004 arrest for possession of a firearm.
However, Carron didn't mention that he's served time for kidnapping and was charged with escape.
Carron told the judge he has a wife and two kids in New Jersey, and that he owns a trucking company there.
With no ties to the Orangeburg area, Carron knew his chances to post bond were few.
Carron still faces federal charges in connection to the incident, but those charges have not been filed.
Carron has his first appearance in November in Orangeburg where a judge could reconsider setting a bond on the charges.
For now, Carron will remain jailed at the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
