Driver charged after car crashes into utility pole

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Officials with the Columbia Police Department have now charged a man after a car crashed into a utility pole early Wednesday morning.

Jamal Gleaton, 20, has been charged with driving under the influence following a collision on River Drive that closed a portion of the road.

The incident, according to CPD, happened on the 3100 block of River Drive around 3:15 a.m. No injuries were reported from the collision.

Crews with SCE&G worked quickly to repair the utility pole. The Columbia Fire Department was also on the scene to assist.

River Drive re-opened just before 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.
