CPD makes arrest after stolen truck goes through apartment

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Officials with the Columbia Police Department have arrested Delarrett Canzater after a truck he stole barreled through the front of an unoccupied apartment located on the 7700 block of Bailey Street.

CPD said Canzater trying to elude police during an attempted traffic stop. After officers confirmed the truck was stolen, they turned on sirens and lights. However, Canzater refused to pull over. After running into the vacant apartment, Canzater got out of the truck and ran. He was arrested a short time later.

Officials have confirmed no one was injured.

Canzater has been charged with failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run, assault on an officer while resisting arrest, malicious injury to property, and reckless driving.

He has been taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
