ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) - Getting around one part of Orangeburg could be a little tricky for commuters.
Work is now underway on the new Four Holes Bridge over I-26. The bridge was demolished last March after a semi-truck driver hit the bridge and was killed.
Many neighbors in the area said that with the bridge out, it takes them about 30 minutes to get to places.
“We’re cut off from the hospitals, or it’s longer to the hospitals, and there are a lot of older people that live out here – people who grew up here and whose families grew up here. Yeah, nobody likes the inconvenience of it,” DeBerry said.
SCDOT said that about 500 cars crossed the old bridge each day.
