SAN JOSE, CA (WIS) - Dressed in some of their best suits, the Clemson Tigers stepped foot off a Delta airplane and onto the tarmac at San Jose International Airport.
The Tigers held practice earlier this week and a walk-through on Friday before packing up and heading west for this year’s national title game in Santa Clara.
“This is awesome,” said Clemson wide receiver Hunter Renfrow. “You’ve got the mountains back there. I’ve never been to California. It was a good flight. A lot of the guys slept. They wanted to drink, like, five bottles of water in the air. So, that was fun. We’re excited to be here.”
The teams will take part in Media Day on Saturday. Meanwhile, there will be other events going on throughout the Santa Clara area for fans to participate in. However, the Tigers understand this isn’t a vacation for them.
“We’re just going to appreciate the time out here,” Renfrow said. “Obviously, this is a business trip. Obviously, we have a task at hand. But I think this team has done a really good job of enjoying the moment and taking advantage of the moment and dominating the moment. So, I feel like, if we can do that, then we’ll be happy going back Tuesday.”
Clemson takes on Alabama for the College Football Playoff National Championship Monday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
