COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Jake Bentley is coming back for his senior season at South Carolina.
The Gamecocks quarterback made the announcement via Twitter on Friday afternoon as questions continued to surface about a possible leap to the NFL.
"When you look at it, there are team goals that we haven't accomplished, so that's what kind of eats at me is that we haven't accomplished our team goals yet," Bentley said this season.
Since becoming the starter, Bentley has gone 19-13 with the Gamecocks and has accumulated 7,385 passing yards making him just the fourth quarterback in Carolina history to reach this milestone.
Bentley is currently third among all quarterbacks in program history in passing touchdowns with 54 and fourth in career passing yards. This past season, Bentley finished second in program history with 27 passing touchdowns, two shy of current single-season record holder Steve Taneyhill.
Bentley was also voted one of four permanent team captains this season for the second straight year.
WalterFootball.com had Bentley listed as one of the top 15 quarterbacks in the Class of 2019. Now, with another year to play, Bentley could possibly improve his draft stock heading into the 2020 NFL Draft.
