COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Deebo Samuel made his mark as a Gamecock at Williams-Brice Stadium with his electric play and his uncanny ability on the football field.
On Wednesday, the ex-USC star left his mark on Columbia by giving back during the holiday season. Samuel partnered with Academy Sports & Outdoors along with the Columbia Police Department to surprise 50 local children with new bikes and helmets.
“They jump up and down, they start screaming, they’re really excited,” said Academy Sports & Outdoors Regional Marketing Specialist Liza Barrett.
The bike donation was part of an annual holiday program held by Academy which rewards children during the holidays for perfect attendance, academic performance, and good behavior. The program happens in 16 different states and benefits 5,500 children at more than 120 donation events.
Children who were on hand also had the chance to take pictures and get autographs for Samuel. The former Chapman High product also took part in a bike donation event earlier this month in Greenville.
