COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The University of South Carolina Board of Trustees agreed to extend the contract of head football coach Will Muschamp and a handful of his top assistants, making one of them a million-dollar man in the process.

In Tuesday’s board meeting, the following coaches were given the following extensions:

  • Will Muschamp: given a one-year extension and now has a 6-year contract through 2024; was not given an increase in base salary, but will earn $4.3 million in extension year.
  • Bryan McClendon: the offensive coordinator received a 2-year extension through 2021 and his contract is worth $1 million a year. He currently has a base salary of $400,000 and guaranteed outside compensation of $250,000.
  • Travaris Robinson: contract extended for one year through 2021. Robinson did not receive an increase in his base salary.
  • Dan Werner: contract extended for one year through 2020 with an increase in base salary of $500,000.

The pay extensions could be a measure to keep the coaches on the Gamecocks sidelines and out of the mouths of other schools searching for head coaches and other assistants.
