Woman hit, killed by car

LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - A pedestrian was struck and killed in Lexington County Tuesday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident happened around 5:15 a.m. when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed on Augusta Highway at Charter Oak Rd. This location is near Lexington High School.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian as 36-year-old Dianne Sullivan Wells, of Lexington. Wells was crossing the roadway in the crosswalk when she was struck by a vehilce. The driver of the vehicle, who was not injured, stopped at the scene to render aid.

Sullivan was an avid runner and participated in a local FiA group. Her friends, who said her nickname was Digits, posted this loving message on Twitter late Tuesday afternoon:

The accident is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
