RCSD seeking help identifying person who stole more than $4K in cigarettes

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a person wanted in two burglaries.

On Nov. 28, deputies responded to Sharpe Shop on Winnsboro Road. When they arrived, they found that the glass of the front door had been shattered.

Surveillance video captured a suspect wearing gloves, a blue-hooded sweatshirt and dark pants breaking into the business to steal cigarettes. The suspect got away with 47 packs, which were worth around $329.

On Nov. 30 around 4 a.m., a citizen noticed that the front door of the J&S Food Mart on Percival Road was open and the glass door had been broken. Deputies responded to the business and found it had been burglarized.

The surveillance video from inside the store showed the suspect breaking the glass door to get inside.

Once inside, the suspect stole items from the store. The business reported that more than $4,000 worth of cigarettes were stolen, along with some cash.

Investigators have reason to believe both burglaries are connected. Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the videos or knows any information about the burglaries is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
