COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Columbia Police Department investigators are searching for a 51-year-old man accused of swindling a victim out of thousands of dollars in connection with a phony home construction project.
Investigators have an outstanding arrest warrant for Toddrick Jay Jenkins for Obtaining Goods Under False Pretenses related to an incident that happened on Nov. 1, 2018 at the 100 block of Gills Crossing Road.
Jenkins is accused of telling the victim that he was licensed to build homes and asked for a total of $75,000. The victim paid the money in installments but Jenkins allegedly didn’t do any of the agreed upon construction, except digging a hole in the victim’s backyard.
Jenkins is accused of misleading the victim to obtain money, knowing he would not be able to do the requested work.
Additionally, the victim had to pay a licensed contractor $30,000 to correct the damage to the land that Jenkins caused by incorrectly digging on the property.
