Hundreds of meals served to officers in honor of Officer Greg Alia Day

Meals to be served to officers on Greg Alia Day.

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Thanks to community donations and local restaurants, hundreds of local law enforcement officers will get a free meal on Friday in honor of Officer Greg Alia Day.

This day is a culmination of the Feed An Officer campaign hosted by Serve & Connect which ran from Nov. 24 to Dec. 9. More than 40 Midlands area restaurants participated in the campaign this year and helped raise more than $13,000.

Serve and Connect was started by Kassy Alia after her husband Greg was killed while serving with the Forest Acres Police Department. The organization says the annual campaign is simply a way to say thank you to those who serve.
