Update: All lanes back open after gas leak on Sunset Blvd. in Lexington Co.

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - All lanes on Sunset Boulevard are reopening after crews secured a natural gas leak that forced the evacuation of 10 businesses Tuesday afternoon.

The leak happened on Sunset Blvd./U.S. 378 near Old Cherokee Road around 3 p.m. this afternoon.

The following nearby businesses were were evacuated at the time of the gas leak:

  • Ruby Tuesday 
  • Synovus Bank 
  • NTB Tire 
  • Security Federal Bank 
  • Office Depot
  • First Community Bank 
  • Smashburger 
  • Vitamin Shop 
  • Mattress Firm 
  • Marcos Pizza

Residents who live in nearby neighborhoods have being allowed to return home.

The roadway closure had an impact after school pick-up at Lexington Middle School and caused buses to be re-routed.
