RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says they’ve made a third arrest in the 2017 death of an 81-year-old man working as a store clerk.
Ervan Matthew Harvey, 49, has been charged with murder and strong arm robbery. He’s the third suspect charged in the death of 81-year-old Charles Duaine Hamilton who was working as a clerk at the Sears store located at 7201 Two Notch Road on Aug. 22, 2017, when deputies responded to a robbery call around 7:30 p.m.
“A witness told deputies Hamilton was attempting to chase the suspects down when the Air Force veteran was pushed to the ground sustaining a head injury, which later caused his death,” the sheriff’s department said in a news release.
The suspects stole a television and fled the scene by car. Jeffrey Alan Simmons and Jason Randolph were previously arrested and charged in this incident.
Harvey was transported to the Alvin S. Glen Detention Center.
